Most of us go through a lot of emotions over the course of a single day (or the week or the month). But the way we deal with them is often greatly influenced by the way we started. For example, in an instant messenger chat with a friend, how are you when you first start chatting? Or, how are you when you wake up in the morning?

That was an intense morning yoga session, wasn’t it? You’re probably feeling a bit sore and stiff, but that’s just part of the process. You’re also probably suffering from mild nausea, lightheadedness, and dizziness, but that’s just because you’re getting your blood moving and revved up. (Yes, that last one’s a scientific fact.) And along with all that, you’re probably experiencing a few thoughts.

“Yoga is for everyone. But you can’t be as flexible or as comfortable as you could if you didn’t have a good teacher. So, where can you find a good and flexible teacher? “Here you go” she said, handing me a map. “There are many types of yoga. This is just a sample. There are many other types of yoga, and many other types of yoga teachers. You need to find a teacher that’s right for you.” My teacher was right for me. All of the others I tried weren’t as good for me as she was.

All beginning yogis have to start somewhere. Some of us are content with a home practice or evening classes, leaving the morning classes to more advanced yogis. But some yogis don’t want to hesitate. Some yogis prefer to jump in with both feet and begin their practice with early morning classes. Everything’s great or nothing, right?

This is your first yoga class and it starts at 6am? Come on, brave yogi! If you decide to do yoga in the morning, you’ll probably think of these things – especially if you’re not a fan of morning classes. But don’t worry. It’s worth it in the end!
