How do you follow a low-carb or keto diet if you don’t want to cook? What do you do when you get home late, tired or just not ready?

Here are our best ideas for a low-carb diet if you don’t feel like or don’t have time to cook.

1. Drinking tea or coffee

A soothing cup of tea or coffee can be enough to satisfy your appetite, especially if you add double cream or melted butter. You can then move on to the next meal without having to cook.

2. Eat low-carb snacks

Fill your pantry and fridge with the low-carb foods you need, so you can quickly make a plate of one or more of these low-carb snacks instead of cooking. Be sure to include at least one source of protein in your diet.

  • Canned fish (tuna, salmon, sardines)
  • Variety of cheeses
  • Meat or delicacies
  • Lawyer

  • Frozen berries or other low-carb fruits
  • Cream
  • Tart
  • Beef jerky or pork rind (no sugar or wheat)
  • Full fat yoghurt
  • Olives
  • Mayonnaise
  • Healthy fats – like olive oil – to flavor snacks like mozzarella or vegetables.

3. Keeping leftovers warm

4. Do a minimum of cooking

Boil an egg. Fry a steak or buy a hot cooked chicken (without bread stuffing or sweet sauce). Add a bag of salad, a selection of cheeses and homemade mayonnaise. Dinner can be ready in 10 minutes. Be creative with salads and use low-carb basics from your pantry.

5. Learn to love your slow cooker

If you know you’ll be home late but have time in the morning (or even the night before), use the slow cooker. The slow cooker is a great way to turn cheap meat into comfort food. It’s a simple shuffle that you put in place and forget about.

Are you really hungry? Learn to understand your appetite and only eat when you are hungry. It may not be suitable for a family, but it is ideal for individuals. And there is no faster (pun intended!) or easier option.
